The premiere of my Symphony No. 1 at the University of Georgia on April the 26th was a great success! Dwight Satterwhite (who led the consortium who commissioned the work) conducted the University Of Georgia Wind Symphony in a thrilling performance which was well received. There are plans to give at least part of the work at this year's WASBE conference in Switzerland (July). The Symphony No. 1 is easily my biggest work for wind band.

Tim Salzman, Director of Bands at the University Of Washington, is organising another commission for me. This time a three-movement concertino piece for saxophone quartet and band. Premiere is expected to be next March. There will be more details about this as work progresses.

Right now I am deep in rehearsals for Peter Grimes, which opens on June the 15th at the Sydney Opera House. I should also mention the CD release of music from the television series "Australians At War" which is currently showing in Australia. I conducted the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra for this series.
